Obituary For Rosa Belle Ellison
Rosa Bell Ellison was called home to glory on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the age of 85. She was affectionately known as Rose by family and friends. She left her home in Charleston South Carolina in 2020 to move to LaPlata Maryland to be near her son Jeff. She was born and raised in Sylvania Georgia where she attended primary and secondary school. Once an adult, she moved to Charleston South Carolina to pursue her studies in nursing. Rose completed her studies in nursing and then fulfilled her goal to become a nurse. She spent most of her career working for and retiring from St. Francis Hospital in South Carolina. Rose was an active member of Royal Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Pastor’s Board and the Prayer Band. Rose worked in the church to lend her hands in service wherever the church called. She also served in her community by taking part in its organization. Rose loved to bake and was often called to bake for church and community events. She was also an excellent quilter and took great joy and pride in making special quilts and blankets for others, especially her son and grandson. Rosa Bell is survived by her Sons Jeffery Ellison and Kelvin Ellison, Tonya Maynor who was like a daughter, Daughter in-law Zina Ellison; Grandsons Jeffery Ellison, II and Kelvin Ellison Jr.; and Sisters Dorothy Lovett and Phyllis White. Rosa Bell is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews. Rosa Bell was preceded in death by her Mother Annie Mae Carpenter and Father Leslie Ellison; Son Phillip Douglas Ellison, Sisters Pansy Bedford, Barbara Maynor, Betty Mobley; and Brothers Albert Ellison, Edward Ellison and Alvin Lee Maynor. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 between 5pm and 7pm at the Low Country Mortuary, LLC, 1852 E. Montague Avenue, North Charleston, South Carolina, 29405. A celebration of Rosa Bell’s life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 2pm at Royal Missionary Baptist Church Life Center 2250 Abraham Avenue, North Charleston, South Carolina, 29405. She will be laid to rest in Monrovia Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, everyone is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
