Obituary For Barbara M. Sumter
+Ms. Barbara M. Sumter of North Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 14, 2023. Ms. Sumter was the daughter of the late Rev. Harold Mack and Emma Fierson Mack, the mother of James Sumter (Naythea), Dewayne Sumter, Dexter Sumter and Barbara Sumter-Cohen, the sister of Debra Matthews (Clarence), Vernita Snider (Binsberry) and Lisa Brown (John L.), the grandmother of; Eric Sumter, Erika Greer, Latoya Chaplin, Shaneka Davis, Shareese Hayward, Jhonte Sumter and Tre'von Greer and a host of great grandchildren. The Home Going Service will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2023, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Johnson Cemetery. The Walk Thru will take place on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

My heartfelt condolences to the family. I met Ms. Sumter when she worked at the Charleston County Detention Center as a cook. She had a beautiful spirit and was definitely an awesome cook.
