Obituary For Barry Bumford

Barry Thomas Bumford, 71, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away on February 6, 2025, at MUSC Charleston after a long battle with lung and heart disease. He was originally from Levittown, PA, and throughout his life, he also lived in Myrtle Beach, SC, and Kissimmee, FL.

A lifelong automobile mechanic, Barry also spent time earlier in his life as a firefighter. In his younger years, he had the opportunity to work abroad in Saudi Arabia and the Bahamas, experiences he fondly remembered and often shared stories about. His love for Philadelphia sports ran deep-he cheered passionately for the Phillies and Eagles, and he had a knack for dozing off on the couch while watching NASCAR races. But more than anything, Barry cherished his family, especially the time he spent watching his grandson play baseball and seeing all his grandchildren grow.

Barry was an active and engaged member of his community, serving as the president of his HOA, where he worked hard to support his neighbors. He was known for his kindness and generosity-always ready to help those he cared about-though his fiery spirit ensured no one ever doubted where he stood.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Cuce, and her children, Madison, Nicholas, and Nathaniel; his son, Thomas Bumford, and his wife Jackie, along with their children, Thomas and Stella; and his granddaughter, Sarah, daughter of his late son, Barry Bumford, Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Deem, and his brother, Roger Bumford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ruth Bumford, and his son, Barry Bumford, Jr.

A remembrance gathering will be held in Goose Creek, SC, with details to be announced soon via social media.

Despite his long struggle with lung and heart disease, Barry's strength, warmth, and unwavering dedication to family and friends never wavered. His legacy of hard work, love, and loyalty will live on in those who knew and loved him.
