Obituary For Bernard Weiters, Sr.

Mr. Bernard Weiters, Sr., son of the late Isabelle Weiters Crawford, was born on February 9, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY. At an early age, he relocated to Charleston, SC where he was raised by his grandparents, William and Rillar Weiters.

Bernard attended St. Peters AME Church. He began his education at Liberty Hill Elementary School and Bonds—Wilson High School. After High School, he joined the Army.

In 1979, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Eleanor B. Simpson. They were blessed with three children; Angulia, Bernard, Jr. “aka BJ” and Elton Weiters.

Bernard worked diligently with the Good Will Organization and was honored to have his picture on their billboard, locally and throughout the states.

Sadly, on Monday, September 30, 2024 while in Hospice Care at NHC Healthcare-Charleston, Ashley Crossing Drive, Charleston, SC he slipped into eternal rest to join his mother; Isabelle “Lemme”, brother; Larry and doting grandparents; William and Rillar.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, his three children; Angulia Weiters, Bernard Weiters, Jr. “aka BJ” and Elton Weiters all of North Charleston, SC, uncle/brother; Alonzo Weiters (Yvonne) of New Bern, NC, cousin/sister; Jonnie Logan of N. Valley Stream, NY, cousin/sister; Chancie Coleman of Brooklyn, NY, special niece; Latresse Thornton of Williamstown, NJ, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and special close friend; Edward McBride of North Charleston, SC. Thank you all for your care and support.

The Home Going Service will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the funeral home at 4:00 PM. There will be no Walk Thru on Saturday.

    As you rest in peace, my cousin know that you will always be loved Miss and never forgotten. I think about our talks you telling jokes how you used to make pranks on us when I was little most of all your kindness my prayers go out to your children and grandchildren. May God comfort them.
