Obituary For Betty Lou Drayton Wright

Mrs. Betty Lou Drayton Wright of James Island, SC entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Mrs. Betty Lou Drayton Wright was born in Pineville, South Carolina to the late Mary Drayton Wilson and the late William Boykin. She attended J.K..Gourdin Elementary School in Pineville and later Four Mile School in Charleston County. She graduated from Burke High School in 1947.

On October 30th, 1947 she married the late Paul Wright. From this union came Perletter Wright Sutton (Walter), Arletter Wright Sanders (Rudolph), the late William Wright (Gwendyln) and Paula Wright Campbell (Anthony) were born and raised in Charleston, SC.

Sis. Betty Wright was an only child and was raised by her mother and her stepfather, the late Jim Wilson.

Sis. Wright was a restaurant manager and head cook for well over fifty years for Barry's Restaurant in the North Charleston area.

Sis. Betty Wright was a faithful member of the Hugo Avenue Church of Christ, The Jacksonville Road Church of Christ and The Folly Road Church of Christ.

She leaves to mourn, her children, grandchildren (William Wright, Barry Campbell, LaKessa Wright, Toni Williams), great-grandchildren (Braxton Williams, Bricson Williams, Karis Burgess, Kasen Jordan, Kristian Dantone, Desirae Matthews, Terrence Matthews and Daniele Hintz. daughter-in-laws Beverley Perkins and Lori Matthews , son-in-laws, Walter Sutton, Rudolph Sanders and Anthony Campbell, Knogisberg and Halpern Family and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Graveside Service for Mrs. Wright will take place on Monday, April 25, 2022, 10:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, N. Charleston, SC. The Walk Thru will take place on Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

    Family please know that you all have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your beautiful mother , grandmother, mother -in-law and my aunt . Roses are red. Violets are blue. We'll all miss her but God will see us through. Weeping May endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.
