Obituary For Carmen Lee Yates

Mr. Carmen Lee Yates was the son of the Late Roosevelt Yates and Harriett Hamilton. He was born on November 6, 1966 in the Maryville section of West Ashley. He departed this life on March 27, 2024.

He was educated in Charleston County Schools. After completing school he immediately began working at Sonny’s Sub Shop upon leaving there he began working for Buddies Seafood for about two years. He then began his employment with the Navy Ship Yard

Supply as a Forklift Operator until his health started to become an issue. Still determined to work his journey began at Yates Paint & Body Shop, doing all he could to make sure everyone was doing their job. He did not want anyone wasting time on material.

At an early age he attended Christian Baptist Church where he was baptized and served as an usher. Later in life he began to serve in the Food and Transportation Ministry at Evening g of Prayer Church of God in Christ. Wherever he could help and was available he did. He was always glad to serve. He was dependable and reliable. He also operated a small Lawn Care Service. Carmen loved his family and visited with them often. He had a love and care for children.

Mr. Yates leaves to cherish his memory to his brothers Mr. Tommy Yates, Mr. Robert Yates, Mr. Carl Yates ( Leola), and Mr. Hylant Yates (Mosetta). He leaves one sister Ms. Carolyn Yates. His

Companion Ms. Tracy Knight and his lovely granddaughter

Little Miss Harmony Knight. As well as two uncles Mr. Charles Hamilton ( Song) and Mr. Leroy Chinnis (Vivian) and two aunts Mrs. Patricia Brown (JB) and Mrs. Francis Mazyck ( Herbert). A host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Home Going Service will take place on Friday, April 5, 2024, 11:00 AM at Evening of Prayer C.O.G.I.C. 2361 Spruill Ave. N. Charleston, SC. He will be laid to rest in Hillsborough Brown Cemetery. The Walk Thru will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

    MY BUDDY- CARMEN!!! Lord have mercy. Tomorrow isn't promised and we have to live for today. Such a wonderful man and would ALWAYS shop with me at Dillard's and Belks. Gotta get those Brahmin handbags. Thank you for always sharing them numbers and a especially a great joke. Whenever you came through Lango to go to Kerry and the boys, you would always stop by and I appreciated that. God called your name and you answered. Family stay encouraged!! We love you Carmen.
