While working as a food safety and quality assurance auditor in the greater Augusta, Georgia area, I had the privilege of auditing Longhorns restaurant, where DJ was managing. Now retired after 40 years, I can honestly say I've never met a more outstanding restaurant manager than DJ. I hold fond memories of him because his mind was like a sponge, constantly absorbing the knowledge I shared, and transforming it into the most intelligent, efficient, and accurate young manager I've ever known. Although auditing restaurants can be challenging, meeting individuals like DJ, who genuinely cared about providing safe, quality food for his customers, was always a source of inspiration. I will deeply miss this remarkable young man. May God lovingly bless his family and keep his extraordinary achievements in our hearts forever. Sincerely, Dr. Herman McKethan, Aiken, South Carolina.

Ms.Helena Manigault
To the Sumpter Family, My deepest condolences and prayers to you during this time of profound loss. Though Dorian's life was brief, it was rich in purpose, love, and divine impact. God allowed his gentle spirit, radiant smile, and pure heart to touch so many lives, leaving an eternal imprint that will never fade. I fondly remember trying to encourage DJ to sing. He would practice before me privately, singing so beautifully with such enthusiasm and energy. Yet, when it was time to stand before an audience, he would freeze. His eyes would catch mine, filled with tears, silently saying, "I can't do it." In those moments, I would embrace him, and together, through those tears, we pushed forward. Those were precious moments I will always treasure. Dorian Jr. "DJ" your mild, humble, and kind spirit reflected the love of God. Even in your quiet moments, your light still shined. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, and earth will forever remember your presence. Though our hearts grieve, we trust that God has wrapped you in His eternal peace. To the family: May God comfort strengthen you, surround you, and carry you through each moment. May His peace that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds, and may His love remind you that this is not goodbye — it is simply until we meet again. With love and prayers, Ms. Helena Manigault Minister of Music W.O.R.D. Ministries Christian Center Summerville SC 🙏🏽💙

DJ's smile was truly infectious. I came into LongHorn so often that he would joke and say, "Faith, you need your own VIP section and parking space here." What he never knew was that during that season, I was walking through one of the most challenging times in my life. Yet his smile, his warmth, and his kindness helped carry me through more than he could have ever imagined. I had the privilege of many conversations with him about his beautiful wife — from before the engagement, to the engagement, to marriage, and then the joy of becoming a father. Seeing the beautiful pictures of his sweet son and sharing in those moments made me feel like family. That meant so much to me. We also shared many conversations about leadership and navigating difficult situations. Because we were both in leadership and management positions, we understood the weight that comes with responsibility, decision-making, and caring for others while still pushing through personally. We were very like-minded in that way. Through the chaos of life, we both understood that sometimes you simply do what needs to be done and keep moving forward with strength and grace. I will never forget how, when he found out it was my birthday, he made sure my dinner was taken care of. That was DJ: thoughtful, intentional, and kind. Gosh, DJ, you will be dearly missed. I do not know if LongHorn will ever feel the same without seeing your beautiful smile, but your memory will forever live on in my heart. There is no pain that Jesus cannot heal. We trust that all things work according to the Master's plan. I send my deepest condolences to his family. I am praying for strength, comfort, and encouragement in the days ahead.

My deepest condolences to Dorian's family and friends. May God give you the strength and courage to overcome this great loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace. I will pray for you and your loved ones as you cope with this immense loss. Romans 14:7-9 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So then, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and rose again so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. - -Dolores Goffigan-
