Obituary For Drexyl Logan
Drexyl Grendetta Logan was born on June 23, 1952, as the fifth child to the late Walter E. and Ella Mae (Price) Logan, and the stepdaughter of the late Mrs. Frances P. Logan. Drexyl was reared by her parents in the Accabee Community of North Charleston. She received her formal grade school education at Mary Ford Elementary. While she attended Bonds Wilson High School from 8th grade to 11th grade, she graduated from Garrett High School in June 1969.
After high school, she moved to New York City, where she attended the City of New York’s Police Academy. She served several years as a Police Attendant at the Manhattan Central Booking. After leaving the New York City Police Department, she worked in security at Teachers College. In 2005, she made the selfless decision to return to Accabee to care for her father and disabled brother. This act of devotion spoke volumes about her selfless spirit and the value she placed on family.
Before her illness, she served as both a caregiver at the Disability Board of Charleston County and in the field of security. Whether she was caring for others or protecting them, she lived out her calling to serve with compassion and strength.
She was blessed and proud to be the mother of her daughter, Mrs. Simone (Rodney) Queen-Green, and the grandmother of two handsome sons, Maliq and Nasir, whom she adored.
Drexyl was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Mae Price Logan; her father, Water E. Logan; stepmother, Frances Pringle Logan; her brother, William “PeeWee” Logan; her sisters, Marie Smalls, Joyce Logan, and Almenia McGhee; and stepbrother, Robert (Germaine) Pringle.
Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Lord called Drexyl home. He dispatched His angels to be at her side, to take her to her eternal home. She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Mrs. Simone (Rodney) Queen-Green; her grandchildren, Master Maliq K. Green and Master Nasir K. Green; her special niece, Ms. JaQuai Jackson; her siblings, Mrs. Jacqueline Smalls, Mr. Julius (Lorraine) Pringle, and Ms. Lenora Pringle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
