I am truly saddened by the loss of Bernard. He was such a kind, compassionate person. He was also a quiet fighter for what he believed in. He loved his family, friends and his work in the medical profession. There is so much to say of his faith, courage, determination, work ethics and family values that I won't have room to record here. What a wonderful person, gone too soon. I will certainly miss Bernard but knowing this is not the end but the beginning of a new life for him, I say R.I.P. until we meet again.

I met PD when we pledged Kappa together at the University of SC in 1977. I have never met a more humble, loving, level headed person. He will be missed by all that knew him; he positively impacted the life of everyone that he came in contact with. He is in a better place doing even better things. Our prayers remain with you; trust that GOD knows best and is always in control.

To the Mitchell Family, I met Marilyn at JCSU in Charlotte and we became friends and we connected Bernard and Pernia. I had the pleasure of introducing two beautiful people and they became friends, dated and got married. They were such a beautiful couple and had three beautiful children. My heart goes out to the family during this difficult time, but they know the Lord and God will never leave them or forsake them. I will always be here for my extended family. Trust God and keep Praying and I will keep you all lifted in my prayers. I will always remember that smile PD had and keep his lil sister Marilyn, my friend straight. I'm here for you all whatever I can do. Love you all.

My sincere condolences to the Mitchell family. I pray God continues to comfort and strengthen the family during this time of bereavement. May the many cherished and fond memories of Edward continue to comfort his family and friends. A comforting thought to keep in mind is at Revelation 21:4 "And he (GOD) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain will be anymore. The former things have passed away." May you all have calming and pleasant thoughts during this time.

I remember Bernard, his brother and Perna, took my family and I fishing. It was our first fishing. And Bernard had so much patience, us. Our hearts and prayers are with Pernia and family always. God bless. Dianna Solomon

Pernia Beautiful Spirit, I Knew from (MUSC Children's)Larry (Stacey), Mary, Edward "Marcus",Grandchildren, Siblings, when we reconnected it was a pleasure, "Ed" was my Asst. Mgr. @ NY Life, where We often Talked about Our Growing up Years in School, Our Community & Family Connection. I Admired Him Greatly, His Gentle Spirit and Our Love for the Lord. His Countenance Would Glow when He Spoke about All of You and Your Accomplishments. I was given permission to Pray for Him as a Prayer Warrior. God Answered Our Prayers albeit, maybe not the Way We Envisioned. God's Perfect Will Always Takes Precedence. Now my Prayers Continue for All of You and the Many Lives He Impacted as He Traveled through Life. While I was Sad for a brief moment, this Song comes to Mind: In the Morning When I Rise, in the Morning When I Rise, in the Morning When I Rise, Give Me Jesus, Give Me Jesus, You can have this old world Give Me Jesus. My Friend has I Believe Gained Jesus. Hallelujah, We Shall See Edward B. "PD" Mitchell if We Live for God, When "We Rise in "Our" Morning. Global Prayer Warrior/Evangelist Frederica "Fred" Ladson.

I write this with great sadness, I truly love the Mitchell family and have adopted them as my family. As everyone knows Bernard was a great man who knew God's word and lived God's word. All of my memories with Bernard involve his wonderful and loving family. One of my first memories of Bernard that stands out involves a powder blue VW Bug or Beetle. One of his family members used to drive that car to work and I loved it. Then one day the family member drove a different car to work. I asked what happened to the VW Bug/Beetle? The family member replied, Bernard heard someone needed a car and he gave it to them. Wow! I was so surprised but the family member said that's how Bernard is, if he knows you need something he will give it to you. Bernard was a kind and generous man who will be truly missed. I send my heartfelt condolences to the Mitchell family and pray God comforts you and keeps you through this difficult time. Love, Tyonia Jones- Maryland
