Obituary For Elaine Constance Fuller
Born on May 1, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Samuel and Ruth Mitchell with seven siblings, five of which preceded her in passing and two remaining sisters that reside in Maryland. Elaine was a bright and spirited child. From an early age, she demonstrated both intelligence and an independent spirit. A proud graduate of George Washington Carver High School in 1958 and later attended Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College and later received a Certificate in Theology. She excelled in her studies and laid the foundation for a life of leadership and service.
In 1959, she married Abraham Fuller Jr. that was an Army servicemember, embarking on a journey of love and commitment that would shape the course of her life. Though her beloved husband passed away on June 11, 1963, while in uniform, leaving her to raise their five children on her own, Elaine never wavered in her role as a mother and matriarch. She chose not to remarry, dedicating herself to her family with fierce love and devotion. Tragically, she also faced the loss of her youngest twin daughter in April of 1992. But through every hardship, she remained steadfast in her faith and strength, always finding a way to nurture and protect those she loved.
Elaine Constance Fuller departed this life on March 21, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy that stretches across generations. As a mother of five—Wyla (Harry-decreased), Sherrie`-deceased (Paul Jr), Shelley (Damone), Ronald (Angela), Reginald (Iris), and former sons-in-law and daughters-in-law that she considered as her own—a grandmother of 18, a great-grandmother of 20, and a host of nieces and nephews. Her family was the center of her world. She had several “adopted” daughters that she brought into the fold, Doorest (DeeDee) Coaxum, whose children called her Grandma, Renee Woods-Butler, Trudy Green, and Debra Doctor to name a few. She poured her love into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, ensuring they knew the importance of faith, family, and the love of God.
