Obituary For Herbert Calvin Moore, Sr.
Herbert Calvin Moore, Sr. affectionately known as the, “Guitar Man” was born on February 08, 1944 in Charleston, S.C., to the late Bishop Aaron Moore and Louella Jordan. He transitioned to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, December 31, 2021 at home with his loving family. Calvin earned his education in the public schools system of Charleston County and attended Bonds Wilson High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was employed by Charleston County Sanitation Department.
Calvin was under the leadership of the late Bishop Aaron Moore, formally Alpha Omega Reformed House of God (Christian Praise and Worship Center), New Life in Christ in Beaufort, S.C., Pastor Cynthia Pringle, and Lost Sheep Ministries, Pastor Joseph Oree.
Calvin enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. He loved to chew gum and will pop it any chance he gets. Calvin was known as the, “Guitar Man” he played all throughout the low country and had a special love for ministering in Beaufort, S.C. He enjoyed his wife’s cooking and his favorite food was macaroni and cheese.
Calvin leaves to cherish his memories to, his wife; Geneva “Lillie Bell” Moore. Children; Herbert Calvin Moore Jr., (Stephanie), Jawhan “Ciara” Moore, Tyrone Bowers, (Sonseeahray), Maurice Sylvester Montegomery, Kanathia Grant, and Shonda Gathers of New York City. Special children Kim Davis Ware (Lavaughn) and KeonDre’ Gadsden.
Siblings; Aaron Herbert Moore (Bubba) Jr., (Deceased), Elder Delores Simmons, Naomi M. Tracey (Deceased), Pastor Lonnie Ruth Palmer (Jacob) and Alvin J. Moore (Deceased).
Sister in Laws; Virginia Green (Jessie), Mary Shaw, Yvonne Sabi (Amadou), Lorraine Davis, Michelle Jager (Jonathan), Pastor Olivia Brown (Clarence), Janice Wright (Thomas), Sharon Ford (Elijah), Esther Lincoln (Steven), Darlene Dawson (Elijah), Tina Jackson (Deceased), and Mygretta Richardson (Kenneth). Brother in Laws; Nathaniel Wright Jr, (Joyce), Fitzgerald Wright, and Curtis Wright. Aunt and Uncle; Ernestine Reed and Bernard Shaw.
23 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special Sister in Law, Virginia Green, Special Niece, Tabitha Green, Special Friends, Edrina Bess, Clarence Brown Jr., Rev. Franklin Washington, Jake Anthony, and Jose Armstrong. The Home Going Service for Mr. Moor will take place on Saturday, January 8, 2022, 12:00 noon at The Alfred Williams Center, 4441 Durant Ave., N. Charleston, SC. He will be laid to rest in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The Walk Thru for Mr. Moore will take place on Friday, January 7, 2022 ,at the funeral home form 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic everyone is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
