The McClendons are my neighbors, and although I didn't see James very much, I remember a few times before he took to his bed. I sat down with him a few times in his yard. He enjoyed sitting outside and watching the squirrels and the birds in the yard. He talked to me about his days in the Navy and how he liked living in California years ago. He was very entertaining, and I smile as I recall how nice he was. His son told me he was a great father, and I know he'll be missed.Rest in peace, James.

I remember when Shana and I were in High School and it was our Senior year. Our football team had made it to the Lower State Championship and it was to be played in Columbia, SC. Mr. McClendon drive us that morning there to support them. We had so much fun! We(Middleton High Razorbacks) won the Lower State Championship Game (1983) On our way back home, we were so charged up with the win, Shana and I couldn't stop talking, giggling and laughing! I believe our energy kept him wide awake pass the ride back home. He laughed along with us, but I think he was laughing at us because Shana and I never stopped talking and laughing all the way home. (Teenage girls ) Truly will be missed. Rest In Peace (RIP) Poppa McClendon.
