Obituary For Mary E. Jenkins
Mary E Jenkins 79 of North Charleston, died on Monday, September 6, 2021. She is the mother Karen Jenkins Downey Mother-in-law of Robert “Irvin” Downey grandmother of Monica Downey Singletary (Byron) Robert “Bobby” Downey and Joshua Downey. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Joshua Baptist Church, North Charleston, SC. Burial will be in Joshua Baptist Church Cemetery. The walk through will be on September 10, 2021 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at The Low Country Mortuary, 1852 E. Montague Ave, North Charleston, SC. Due to the COVID pandemic, we will be practicing social distancing and face masks will be required for the funeral services and walk through.

Karen, I was saddened to hear that your precious mother is no longer with us yet I know that she is singing with the angels in her new home. She was a genuinely kind person and it was my pleasure to have known her. My condolences, prayers and thoughts are with you and yours. Love, Anne

I would like to extend my condolences to Karen and to the rest of the family. Sister Mary Jenkins was indeed a godly role model for women of God. I remember her faithfulness and singing when we were members at Gethsemane Baptist Church. I always will remember her singing, "The Last Mile Of The Way" minutes after I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit in 1987. Yes, I have plenty great memories of this woman of God. Truly, a soldier has gone home.
