Obituary For Michael Lee Smalls
On a beautiful fall morning, September 13, 1989 Minister Carmen Bowman was blessed with her third child. She named him Michael Lee Smalls. He was a cute, curious, rambunctious little boy who got into everything and got away with a lot because he had such an infectious smile.
Michael was known by several names, sometimes just Mike, and sometimes Yodie.
Michael attended the public schools of Charleston and Berkeley Counties. He was a graduate of Hanahan High School. Mike worked several jobs and his last job was as kitchen manager at Chicken Salad Chick located in Mount Pleasant, SC. He also enjoyed doing lawn care. He was a fan of the Carolina Panthers.
Mike gave his life to Christ and joined Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church March 16, 2003, and was baptized by Reverend Dr. Augustus D. Robinson, Jr. Michael’s life, like many of ours, was a journey, and he moved back home with his mother and family. He re-dedicated his life to Christ under Reverend Dr. Byron Benton with plans to be re-baptized. He was excited about his new start at Mount Moriah. His mother was happy beyond measure that he found his way back. To God Be the Glory!!
His sudden passing was very painful and surreal for his family.
Mike leaves to mourn his loss, but cherish his memories: his mother, Min. Carmen Bowman, stepfather, Cleveland Bowman, his son, Antonio Bernard Smalls, one sister, Tremella Smalls, One brother Keith Smalls (Lynn), his nephew, Quintin Smalls, and his niece, Zahria Lewis, 7 aunts, 4 uncles, and a host of close, loving cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
The Home Going Service will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, 11:00 AM at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. The Wake service will take place on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the church from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

A comforting promise is at Revelation 21:4 "and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.
