Obituary For Ruth Geddis

Ruth Geddis, affectionately known as Leola, was born on August 8, 1929, in the close-knit community of Geddisville in Summerville, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of Joshua L. Geddis and Levenia H. Geddis. Ruth was the youngest of two children and was preceded in death by her dear sister Angie Geddis (Ben).

She was educated in the Dorchester County School System and left home at an early age to pursue a better life. Her journey took her to Charleston, SC, and later to New York City, where she made her home for many years. Ruth worked diligently in various factories during the 1970s and eventually returned home to North Charleston, SC, after retirement. In her later years, she moved to Cross, SC, where she lived with her niece Annette Middleton and her husband Paul Middleton.

Ruth is survived by her devoted son Eric Simmons (Charmaine) of Atlanta, GA. She leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her extended family, including her nephew Apostle Benjamin Broughton (Carol) of North Charleston, SC, and nieces Valerie Richards (Albert) of North Charleston, SC, Linda Hunter (George) and Andrea Dowling (Mark), both of Jacksonville, FL, and Annette Middleton (Paul) of Cross, SC. She is also fondly remembered by her niece-in-law Natasha Stevens of Jacksonville, FL, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Ruth will be remembered for her resilience, quiet strength, and the love she extended to all who knew her.
