Obituary For Terry Glen Kindred
In Loving Memory of Terry Glen Kindred
February 14, 1972 – April 30, 2025
What do you get when you blend the striking charm of Denzel Washington, the razor-sharp wit of Dave Chappelle, the boundless compassion of Christ, the unshakable patience of a kindergarten teacher, and the courage and heroism of The Flash?
You get Terry Glen Kindred—a man who wasn’t just extraordinary, but the perfect combination of everything the world needs more of.
The world lost a true hero, a creative visionary, and a devoted family man with the passing of Terry G. Kindred on April 30, 2025. Born on Valentine’s Day in 1972 in Rantoul, Illinois, to Clarence J. Kindred and Rosie Lee B. Kindred, Terry embodied a life of love, service, and inspiration. While his mother, father, and siblings Clarence Jr. and Cornelius Watson preceded him in death, their legacy lived on through Terry’s boundless passion for family, his community, and creative interests.
A proud graduate of RB Stall High School (Class of 1990) in Charleston, South Carolina, Terry’s journey of service began in the United States Navy, where he honed his skills, discipline, and drive through selfless service as an Electrical/Mechanical Equipment Repairman. After earning his Associate’s degree from Trident Technical College, he became a Ramp Supervisor with Delta Global Services, later taking on the role of Territorial Manager with Terminix Pest Control. It wasn’t long before Terry found his true calling in emergency medical services, embarking on a career that would leave an indelible mark on Charleston County EMS and the countless lives he touched.
Terry began his EMS journey in 2002, fueled by a deeply rooted commitment to serving others. His remarkable career saw him rise through the ranks—from EMT to Division Chief in 2021, a testament to his tireless work ethic, compassionate care, and unmatched leadership. He was a valued member of the Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) Team, serving alongside the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team as Assistant Medical Element Leader. His contributions to tactical medicine, along with his steady presence and expertise, made him a cornerstone of his team.
Terry’s impact extended far beyond his professional life. His photography captured moments of triumph, camaraderie, and beauty, often telling the untold stories of the EMS world. As one of the official photographers for Surfers Healing, Terry’s lens revealed his extraordinary ability to find light in every situation. His love of comic books, particularly his admiration for The Flash, reflected his own nature—brave, selfless, just, and filled with a relentless drive to make the world better, faster, and kinder.
Terry’s life was one of deep connections, evident in his love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his adoring wife, Angela Childs-Kindred, his cherished daughter, Alysha Simone Kindred of High Point, NC, and his loyal companion, Sylvie. He was embraced as a son by his “parents-in-love,” Dr. Walter and Dorothy Childs, and leaves behind a close-knit network of siblings: Shelitta Warren (Charleston, SC), Pamela Walker (Hanover, Maryland), and in-laws Sherry Kindred (Glendale, Arizona) and Walter B. Childs (Winston-Salem, NC). His legacy continues through his many nieces and nephews, including Vanessa (Mike) Brown, Michael Warren, Patricia “Trisha” Kindred, Anthony Warren, Tasha (Jay) Delgado, Shannon (Brandon) Scott, and Mykhael (Iesha) Walker, and Uncle Loan (Loretta) Kindred (Detroit, Michigan) as well as his 7 great-nieces and 14 great-nephews.
Terry’s Charleston County EMS family remembers him as more than a colleague; he was a mentor, a storyteller, and a source of unwavering positivity. Whether through his leadership, his humor, or his ability to bring comfort in the hardest moments, he left an enduring legacy that will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Terry was a real-life superhero, inspiring everyone around him with his humility, courage, and dedication. Like The Flash, he raced through life with purpose, fighting for justice, spreading joy, and leaving the world a better place in his wake. His legacy will live on in every life he touched, every photograph he captured, and every story told about the man who lit the way for so many.
Rest in peace, Terry Glen Kindred. Your light will never dim.
