Obituary For Thaddeus Stoney

Bishop Thaddeus Stoney, the son of the late Oliver Robert Stoney, Sr. and Vivian Benson Stone, born on September 20, 1940 in Charleston, SC.

He received his education in the public schools of Charleston County. He graduated from Burke High School in Charleston, SC.

Later he enlisted in the United States Air Force on March 2, 1961. He served his country for twenty years. He retired honorably on March 31, 1981. During his service in the Air Force, he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on June 28, 1969 in Puerto Rico. He later was called into the ministry by Jesus Christ. He served God faithfully until God called him home on October 3, 2025. He pastored the Body of Christ Church of Deliverance, 1279 Sumner Avenue, North Charleston, SC for 48 years. May lives he touched throughout the years.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Missionary Maxine Stoney, his two sons and two daughters; Thaddeus Robert Stoney, of Charleston, SC, Pastor Mikell Anthony Stoney (Nicole), of Georgia, Chevron Lynette Stoney Venning of Charleston and Octavia Leveene Stoney Brown of Charleston. One stepson and one stepdaughter; Dion Isaiah Hargrove (Romona) of Norway and Elizabeth Sharon Hargrove of Rock Hill, SC. He had eight siblings, six who preceded him in death; Sgt. Oliver H. Stoney, Jr., Thomas P. Stoney, Evelyn Stoney, Louise Stoney, Lorraine “Cookie” Stoney, and Herbert Graham. Two he leaves to cherish him memories; Archibald Stoney of Florida and Viola Stoney Chisholm (Farrias) of Charleston, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, brothers and sisters in Christ and friends.
