Obituary For Theodore Jackson, Sr.

Theodore was born on June 25, 1942, to the late Rannie Jackson and the late Alice Elizabeth Rivers Jackson, and his journey through life was one of inspiration and service. Theodore Jackson, Sr. was a remarkable man, who touched the hearts of many in his community and beyond.

As a young man, Theodore graduated from Baptist Hill High School in Hollywood, SC, where he laid the foundation for a life dedicated to learning, growth, and making a difference. He exemplified the spirit of patriotism and honor by serving his country with distinction in the United States Air Force. His time in the Air Force was marked by dedication, courage, and a strong sense of duty.

Affectionately known as Teddy, Neck, Junior, and Uncle Junior to his beloved nieces and nephews, Theodore was cherished by all who knew him. His magnetic personality and genuine care for others created lasting bonds that spanned generations.

After his honorable service in the military, Theodore found his calling as a professional underwater expert welder at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. This thrilling career allowed him to explore the depths of the oceans while contributing to the maritime industry. His work took him to various corners of the
world, broadening his horizons and enriching his life with diverse experiences.

In 1998, after retiring from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Theodore Jackson embarked on a new chapter as an entrepreneur and founded Absolute Charleston Airport Taxi Shuttle. The company earned a stellar reputation and became a trusted name in the transportation industry, providing contractual services to Delta Airlines, Hampton Inn, Boeing and MUSC.

Beyond his professional achievements, Theodore's true legacy lies in the warmth of his heart and his unwavering dedication to family. He was a pillar of strength, always ready to lend a helping hand and provide mentorship and guidance to those in need. His kindness and caring nature left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

He will join heavenly angels awaiting his arrival to include his parents, Rannie and Alice, as well as his siblings, Arthur, Derry, Dorothy, Edward, James, Jesse Mae, Patricia, Mary and Ruben, who have gone before him.

Theodore Jackson will be deeply missed by his adoring children, Theodore Jackson, Jr. (Jennifer) of Atlanta, GA, Bakari Jackson (Tracy) of Goose Creek, SC, their loving mother Carrie S. Jackson of Charleston, SC, and Llewellyn Whaley of James Island, SC. His legacy extends to a loving family of eight grandchildren: Khadejah Jackson, Jenaya Jackson, Shaqueena Jackson, Bakari Z. He also leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: His loving sisters, Blanche Venning (Ben), Elladine Jackson, Ethel Fludd, Susan Fuller, brother, Ernest Bailey; sister in-laws, Naomi Jackson, Sammie Jackson, Yolanda Jackson; aunt, Mattie Adams (Joe); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special cousins to include Karen Adams, Rev. Nelson B. Rivers III (Carolyn) and Jeffery Rivers. Special recognition goes to his devoted caretaker/friend, Sonya Holmes, who provided unwavering care and support during times of need.

Theodore Jackson, Sr. will also be profoundly missed by his professional driving staff, who were like an extended family to him: Sonya Holmes, Ben Gathers, Ronald McPherson, Christopher Dent, Tony Jackson, Elijah Dent, and numerous others who assisted from time to time were not just employees; they were valued members of the close-knit team at Absolute Charleston Airport Taxi Shuttle.

A testament to his love for family and his dedication to creating a legacy, Theodore positioned his son, Bakari Jackson, to operate as his second-in-command within the company. This decision was not only a testament to his belief in Bakari's capabilities but also a way of ensuring that the business remained in capable hands for generations to come. Furthermore, Theodore entrusted his grandson, Bakari Z. Jackson, with the critical task of managing the company's accounting processes. Sonya Holmes assisted with the execution of the logistical operations of the company. By involving his family in the operation, he transformed Absolute Charleston Airport Taxi Shuttle into a true family-operated business, where values such as trust, loyalty, and dedication were held in high regard.
