Obituary For Tyrone Ravenell
Tyrone Ravenell was born in Havelock, North Carolina on February 5, 1964, to Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Lillie Mae Ravenell, Who preceded him in death. He was sent to his eternal home on May 14, 2025. Tyrone was a shining light In the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked with love, compassion and unwavering faith in God. He had a gift for miraculously resolving complicated matters and, a heart that would help anyone in need.
As a child, he became a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He played baseball with the neighborhood team league. He attended Fort Johnson high school and then went on to joined Job Corps of America.
Tyrone was multitalented and traveled extensively. He worked in the trucking industry in California, which lead to him touring with stars like, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Earth, Wind and Fire, Gladys Knight and the Pips and, The O'Jays, just name a few. He came back to Charleston briefly, but settled in Atlanta where he worked in the restaurant industry and met several stars. He was very excited about the picture he took. with T-Boz of the R&B group, TLC. He relished in the fact that, both he and T-Boz were Miami Dolphins fans.
Atlanta is also where Tyrone met his former wife, Cheryl Wallington. They fell in love and moved to Chicago where he met and fell head over heels in love with his step children and step grandchildren. He adored the Chicago's culture, especially going to plays, relaxing at parks, and mastering the Chicago Style of Stepping.
Tyrone returned to Charleston in 2013. He was a blessing and a great help to our mother during her time of need. He remained in Charleston and worked in various locations throughout low country. Shortly after his returned he attended New Tabernacle 2nd Missionary Baptist Church.
Tyrone Ravenell was a man of hidden talent, great integrity, animated character, and was always the life of the party. His famous words were, “I am going to do me.”
He was preceded in death by our parents, Two brothers: Kenneth Lee Ravenell (deceased) and Robert Anthony Ravenell (deceased). He leaves behind four sisters: Theda Crutchfield (Bobby), Deborah Moody (Dwight), Veronica Ravenell, and Samantha Myers. Two Uncles: James Hoskin (Carolyn), Tommy a Hoskin. Two Aunts: Emily Chisholm, Virgie Anderson (Nate), Catrina Hoskin (Donald). A Former Wife: Cheryl Wallington. Three Stepdaughters: Lauren, Kira, and Amy. Four Grand Children: Kelsey, Juanita, Cidney and Brianna. He was blessed with A host of loving Nieces and Nephews along with countless Cousins, and Life-Long Friends.
