Obituary For WILHELMENA GREENE

***** Funeral services will be held at The Low Country Mortuary****** Wilhelmena Greene 85 of Charleston, South Carolina died on Monday, July 19, 2021. Wilhelmena Meggett Greene was born June 5, 1936, on Edisto Island, to the late Jim Wright and Rosalie Meggett Wallace. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Henry B. Ackerman; her brothers James and Jonathan Wallace; sisters Rosetta Betty Jean Wallace and Sarah Wallace; her daughter Sharron Olivia Greene; Grandsons Riverio Antonio, Damon Cleveland Richardson and Parrish Greene and her son-in-law Alphonso Lamont Seabrook. Wilhelmena was educated in the Charleston County School District. She was a caretaker to many families. She loved to cook and would feed anyone who came through her door. She was affectionately called the “chilli bear lady!” She was a member of St. Luke’s Reformed Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston. Wilhelmena leaves to cherish her memory her children John Cleveland Greene (Annette), Rev. Vertelle G. Seabrook, Annie Mae Greene (William “Will” Beaman), and Henry B. Greene (Sarah); twenty-three grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; three brothers Joseph, Samuel and George Wallace; and a sister-in-law Mary Wallace. Very special Thelma Green Washington and Mary Bryant. Funeral services will be held at The Low Country Mortuary at 11:00am on Monday, July 26, 2021. The walk through will be on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Burial will be at the Riverview Memorial Park. Due to the COVID pandemic, we will be practicing social distancing and face mask will be required.
