William Clarke Brown was born on February 22, 1952, to Emily B. Choice and the late William Choice. He was educated in the Charleston County School District and graduated from C. A. Brown High School in 1971. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and faithfully served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1974. William, also known as “Ekie” by his family and “Brown” by his friends, was an incredibly loving and giving person. He was extremely intelligent and would often fix broken electronics for his friends and family. He was an excellent provider and always made sure that his family, including his wife Robin and his children Dr. Tia Young and William J. C. Brown were cared for and wanted for nothing. He was always a “sharp dresser” and a frequent customer of local suit shops like Super Bad and Bluestein’s where he often bought his beloved Stacey Adams shoes. He loved fishing and would often fish at The Battery in his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina. He loved pets and had several dogs and other animals as pets throughout the years. He also enjoyed traveling, planting, and spending time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Robin, his mother Emily Choice, and his children Dr. Tia (Michael) Young and William J.C. (Asalee) Brown. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Aziia Bailey, Michael Young III, Matthew Young, and William Jrue Brown. The third oldest of nine children, his siblings Brenda Jenkins, Irvin Brown, Calvin Choice, Marva (Kenneth) Haynes, Zelda Choice, Pat Choice-Smith, Robert Choice, and Constance Shaw will honor his memory. His presence will also be missed by his aunt Geneva Brown, cousins – Sharon Gilliard and Toni Brown, and a host of nieces and nephews. While he is no longer with us in the flesh, his kind, loving, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
