Obituary For Willie Ira Worley

Willie Ira Worley, age 63, who departed this life too soon at his home in North Charleston, South Carolina on April 22, 2025.

Born in New York City on October 4, 1961, to the late Ella Mae Middleton and Willie Ira Worley Sr., Willie was known for his quiet confidence. Growing up with his siblings, Willie's childhood was filled with adventures and countless memorable stories that will be shared for generations. As a young man, he was an exceptional athlete who excelled in baseball, basketball, and football, showcasing his natural talent and love of sports.

Willie was a naturally talented craftsman who began working using his carpentry and plumbing skills. After that, Willie worked diligently in the seafood industry, helping to harvest and provide fresh local seafood to the community and embodying the hardworking spirit of the Lowcountry.

In his most recent years, Willie found solace and purpose in studying the Bible, focusing on self-introspection and spiritual development. His journey to self-improvement was a testament to his determination and desire to live the later years of his life with meaning and purpose.

Willie leaves behind a loving family including his children, Akiesha Worley and Willette Cooper; grandchildren, Zyaire Mitchell and Jemari King; brothers, Allen Worley and Robert Worley (Gloria) and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings Maurice Worley and Lisa Worley.

Willie's warm smile and helping hands will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.

    My condolences to the family and friends. My friend and classmate growing up was one of the most amazing athletes of our time. Whenever I would see him before he saw me I would yell out "Home Run King" he would say that's Carl. Rest in peace my friend.
